1. Do I need X-rays?

X-rays may be necessary if the Dr. Caleb Runne suspects a pathology (fracture, dislocation, infection, cancer, etc.), however, X-rays are not taken in this office but will be referred out to the appropriate physician who can treat the pathology in question.

2. Can the doctor just “crack” me?

If you are seeing the Dr. Caleb Runne for the first time, you must have a complete history and exam to ensure that the doctor can treat you properly.

3. My medical doctor told me it is not safe for me to be adjusted by a Chiropractor, is it dangerous?

Dr. Caleb Runne uses many techniques depending on the needs of each patient, some of which do not require manipulation of the spine, but only the Chiropractor can tell you if it is safe or not to be adjusted, your medical doctor most likely does not have training in spinal manipulation.

4. If I start Chiropractic care will I get addicted and have to come back forever?

Chiropractic is not addictive.  Dr. Caleb Runne’s aim is to assist your body in healing itself and train you to become independent, no longer needing his service because you are well and empowered.

5. Can Chiropractors prescribe medicine?

In the state of Tennessee Chiropractors do not prescribe medication.

6. What is that “popping” noise when a Chiropractor adjusts?

A Chiropractic adjustment involves the quick opening of the joint, which creates a vacuum and carbon dioxide and nitrogen gasses escape into the joint making a popping sound.  While that gas bubble is there, the joint moves more smoothly, the muscles that move the joint relax, natural pain killers are sent from your brain, circulation improves, and many more helpful physiological reactions that help you heal.

7. Do Chiropractors only work on the spine?

Dr. Caleb Runne works with dysfunction in all the joints of the body; spine, jaw, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, etc.  The spine is where many nerves exit to go to the internal organs as well as the muscles and joints, which allows the Chiropractor to indirectly affect the organs as well.

8. Do I need a referral from a medical doctor to see a Chiropractor?

No, you just need to call to set up your appointment.

1. Is your insurance company looking out for your best interests?

Insurance companies are in business to make money.  To participate in a HMO, the doctor must sign an agreement to give the least care possible in the least amount of time.  Dr. Caleb Runne refuses to give anything less than the best for his patients and therefore does not participate with insurance.  This also allows him to keep his fees low for all, whether they have insurance or not.

2. Will X-rays change your treatment?

Many Chiropractors take X-rays on a routine basis.  Dr Caleb Runne wants to avoid unnecessary exposure to ionizing radiation for his patients and unnecessary costs that might make care prohibitive.  The technique used by Dr. Caleb Runne does not require the use of X-rays.

3. How much is your health worth and who is ultimately responsible for your health?

Dr. Caleb Runne understands that health is the most valuable possession we own and no one; not your doctor, not your insurance, not anyone else, can take that responsibility from you, which is why he does as much as he can to educate you so you can continue healing when you are not in his office.

4. If just “cracking” you solved the problem, why would you still need to have it done?

If you have been used to getting relief with Chiropractic adjustments, but your problem has not healed, you may be missing something.  Dr. Caleb Runne will dig until the problem is found and truly heals.

5. What education is required to become a Doctor of Chiropractic?

Chiropractors must first take pre-med courses during their bachelor’s degree and then take four more years of Chiropractic college.  A Doctor of Chiropractic is competently trained to recognize when his treatment is appropriate and when it is not.

6. Do you plan on being healthy and active the rest of your life?

A healthy, active person will have injuries from time to time and can prevent chronic problems  and stay their best.  You should see great health benefits with Chiropractic care, but it is always your choice if you want to regularly take care of your health.

7. Where is my pain really coming from?

Pain is good in that it tells us we have a problem, but covering up that pain with medication is not a solution.  Dr. Caleb Runne will search for the source of the problem so that it can stop getting worse and really heals.

8. What techniques does the doctor use?

Dr. Caleb Runne uses Trigger Point Therapy and Chiropractic adjustments because he knows that the soft tissues (nerves, muscles, ligaments, etc.) are what move the joint and cause dysfunction and pain to the body.  Only adjusting the joints will not correct the injuries to the soft tissues.

9. Why is the spine so important?

Your spine surrounds and protects the nerves that provide function and sensation to your body.  Misalignments of the bones can therefore cause pain and dysfunction to any part of your body.  Dr. Caleb Runne corrects the bony misalignments, but unlike most other chiropractors he goes a step further by first addressing the dysfunction and pain in the muscles, tendons, and ligaments that are responsible for moving the bones.

10. What are others saying about your Chiropractor?

While you don’t need a referral from a medical doctor to see a Chiropractor, it is a good idea to ask patients what they think about the Chiropractor you are considering.  Find out what others are saying about Dr. Caleb Runne before you see him.  You might be surprised as to what he has helped people recover from.
